It’s All about Inspiration: Mexican National Women’s Team Trains LAFC Girls!
Energy and inspiration were the name of the game when approximately 200 LAFC girls joined the Mexican National Women’s team on the La Canada varsity field the evening of October 4th.
Thirteen of LAFC’s teams met and trained with women who are at the top of their game as Coach Leo Cuellar brought his team to our field.
"Seeing the look on the younger girls' faces when the team approached the field was priceless," said Teddy Chronopoulos, director of girls coaching. He added that the excitement as the LAFC girls took photos and got the players’ autographs were highlights of the event.
Younger girls eagerly took to the field for skills training with the team members, followed by a skills session for the older players.
The Mexican team then fielded questions from our high school players who are hoping to continue playing soccer when they head off to college. Many members of the Mexican team attend college here in the U.S., including at UCLA, Notre Dame University, and Colgate University, and were able to offer important advice to college-bound club members.
Coach Chronopoulos added that meeting these players allowed our girls to see that hard work and dedication can truly take a player to a higher level.
“Sometimes you need to see it up close and meet people who come from the same background and share the same goals as you do,” said Coach Chronopoulos.
The team was in Los Angeles to play exhibition games as they tune up for the 2007 World Cup qualifying games. |
