College / Calendar
- Standardized Testing Information
- The following calendar is excerpted from the College Board website, www.collegeboard.com. Below are this school year's testing dates. You may sign up for tests now that you might take in a few months. The reason to do this is to ensure a place at the testing center most convenient to you. You should plan on taking the SAT twice, so plan accordingly. Check with the colleges you are targeting how many and which SAT II Subject tests are required and plan those according to when you have taken the underlying subject, i.e., if you are taking Biology in 11th grade, make sure you take the SAT Biology Subject test in June of your junior year.
- The College Board website is a comprehensive planning tool for students planning on going to college. It is recommended that you visit the website and discover what planning tools it has to offer. Finally, The College Board actually sends your scores to prospective colleges and to the NCAA Clearinghouse. Your high school does NOT report your SAT scores. Be advised that there is now score choice. You do not have to send all of your scores to all of your prospective schools. You may wait to receive your scores first, perhaps take the test again to improve your score and then, for a nominal fee per college or university, have your best scores sent to them. A few universities require all test scores to be submitted, but this is an exception rather than a rule.
- For the ACT, the alternative standardized test, visit www.actstudent.org. The ACT is a widely accepted alternative standardized test and is also administered many times per year. You may perform better on the ACT than on the SAT and visa versa, but it is certainly worth finding out which standardized test maximizes your best student qualities.
